The dynamic young pianist, Yoon Ju Lee, has won numerous prizes in her native Korea and in the United States. After starting her studies at four she won her First Gold medal at eight, continuing to win awards year after year.
She attended Seoul National University attaining her B.M. in 1993. She continued to perform on broadcasts of national television and radio, and after winning Samick Piano Competition in 1992, was the subject of an extensive article in the Korean National Piano Magazine. In 1993 she was featured in recital at Sejong Hall as a "New Great Pianist."
Dr. Lee earned her Doctoral degree from the University of Arizona. In 1994 she won the First Prize from the Green Valley Concert Association's Competition. In 1995 she performed with the University of Arizona Symphony Orchestra as the winner of University of Arizona President's Concerto Competition. The same year, she was State Winner of the Music Teacher's National Association Competition. In 1997, she was featured in recital and interview on MBC radio in Korea, and had a solo recital in Seoul, sponsored by Pianoforte Magazine and Seoul National University. In 2000 her dissertation lecture-recital was "The Selected Operatic Paraphrases of Franz Liszt (1811-1866): Compositional Style and Performance Perspectives." The same year, she performed Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 with Mokpo Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2001 her live recording was relased by Eroica Classical Recordings, and has been broadcast on KUAT and Web Concert Hall. She performed selections of her recording at Barnes & Noble right after her CD release. Dr. Lee is an artist of Web Concert Hall Artist Series for 2002-2004. Her second CD was released by Eroica Classical Recordings, and she performs in Arizona, Idaho, Oregon. and Illinois in United States and Korea in 2002.
She was a Chair of Music Department at Myung-Shin University in Korea until she accepted a position of Director of Piano Studies at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon in 2001.
